Our Mission
Errands For Grandparents provides reliable, compassionate assistance to Seniors and Disabled Veterans who need a little extra help managing everyday tasks. From grocery shopping and prescription pickups to appointment transportation and home organization, we give older adults the freedom to live independently while giving families peace of mind. Our trusted team bridges the gap between full-time caregiving and daily independence--so Seniors can stay active, connected, and cared for. Our approach starts with trust and cultivating long-lasting relationships with our client/Grandparents.
Our services are thoughtfully priced to ensure fairness for Seniors and Disabled Veterans living on fixed incomes. We believe everyone deserves quality assistance without financial strain.
Our Story
Welcome to Errands For Grandparents, a heartfelt initiative founded in 2020 by Brigitte Tapp during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Initially created as a FREE personal errand service to Seniors and Disabled Veterans who were homebound and afraid to leave their homes in the Washington D.C. region.
Brigitte's commitment to service started early. Guided by her grandmother's lessons on the importance of humanity, giving back to the community and random acts of kindness, she began volunteering at age 15 serving as a Candy Striper at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA. Some of her Candy Striper responsibilities consisted of: working in the hospital gift shop, delivering flowers, balloons and mail to the patients. Reading cards and letters to the patients and escorting discharging patients in wheelchairs.
Alongside her beloved "Nana" she helped deliver "Meals On Wheels", she ran errands at the local "Clothes Closet" for families in need of clothes. She would sometimes ride with her grandmother to collect donations for the National Heart Association back in the early 80's. In the early 90's Brigitte worked at M-NCPPC, Intergenerational Programs were she managed four Senior Activity Centers.
Years later, Brigitte became her grandmother's caregiver until Nana's passing in 2013--- deepening her lifelong passion for serving Seniors with dignity and love.
Today, due to the growing demand for these essential services, and following a career transition, Errands For Grandparents has evolved into a full-service small business, proudly continuing the legacy of A Helping Hand with a Heart.
Each month we will proudly select one Senior or Disabled Veteran to support FREE of charge, honoring Brigitte's grandmother, "Nana" whose dedication to service inspired this program. Existing clients ONLY (our grandparents) can enter to WIN the 2-hours of FREE service. All members MUST enter their email to win!
